LeBron

This guy is pretty good.

Questions/thoughts:
Why is LeBron not being doubled?
How did Hedo hit his lob over the head shot with a second left? Ugly.
The Cavs celebrated like they won the championship, why?
The Cavs are in trouble if they could barely win at home and still have to play two (or more) in Orlando.

Anyways, here is the video of last nights ending:

NBA Playoffs Conference Finals

**This may seem late, but I have been wrting this and saying these things for days**

First, we need to see how well I picked the conference finalists. Let's get right too it:

Cleveland vs. Atlanta: Cavs sweep (I picked Cavs in 6, no one thought the Cavs would cruise like they did).
Boston vs. Orlando: Magic in 7 (I picked Magic in 6, I did it again, I underestimated the heart of a champion. Either that or the Magic just aren't that good, I choose the latter)
LA Lakers vs. Houston: Lakers in 7 (I picked Lakers in 5 because the Rockets are a pretty good team and very physical, they have someone that can make Kobe work for his points and shut down the role players of the Lakers - but Houston still lost)
Denver vs. Dallas: Nuggets in 5 (I picked Nuggets in 6, pretty close. The Nuggets are better than anyone knows, but they are way too physical and it will kill them in the LA series)

I picked all the winners, but I got none of the series right on for how many games. I will try to do better this time.

Eastern Conference Finals
1. Cleveland vs. 3. Orlando

Cleveland has the best player in the league but not much else. LeBron will have his way in this series. The series comes down to the roles players, can they hit enough shots so when LeBron is forced to pass the Cavs still get points. If the Cavs 2nd-tier players score enough the Magic will lose. Orlando relies way too heavily on the three. The Cavs have no one to stop Dwight Howard and the Magic should pound it down low over and over again. Too bad Dwight has two offensive moves - the dunk and a short jump hook. While this will be a harder series then the first two for the Cavs, they should not have that much of a problem getting to the Finals.

Cavs in 6

1. LA Lakers vs. 2. Denver

The Nuggets are thugs living a thug life, but I love seeing them beat up on the Lakers. I don't want anyone to get hurt, but it is fun watching a scrappy team like the Nuggets play a good team like the Lakers. You see how soft Pau and Odom are when they are forced to play a physical team over and over again. How soft the Lakers are may really hurt them in this series. I love Carmelo (as a basketball player, he is not a good person) and he works hard for his points. This year Melo even decided to rebound and play a little defense. The Lakers have Kobe and he can still take over games in the 4th quarter (winning time). Denver is just so scrappy they never give up until the horn sounds. This will be a good hard-fought series. Too bad the Lakers have a lot more talent on their side - and in the NBA talent usually wins out!

NBA Playoffs Round 2

Because I am a great guy I thought I would let you know how my first round NBA predictions went to let you know how I did, plus you get a free set of predictions for round 2! Here is how I did in round 1:

Cavs in 6 - Right winner, but the Cavs SWEPT the Pistsons
Hawks in 6 - Right winner, but in took the Hawks 7 games
Celtics in 7 - Called it right on!
Magic in 5 - Right winner, but the Magic took 6 games
Lakers in 5 - Called it right on, again!
Blazers in 7 - Missed the team and the games. Houston dominated.
Hornets in 6 - Missed the team and the games. Denver crushed these guys. I didn't think Billups could make this team so good, but he did.
Spurs in 6 - Missed the team and the games. The Mavs took these guys out. The Spurs just did not have what it takes. They are going to have to reload and come back next year.

Got 5 of 8 series right, 2 of those right on. Missed in the West where 2 lower seeds won their matchups and Denver, the team everyone wanted to play, was dominant.

On to round 2:

1 Cavs vs. 4 Hawks

The Hawks played some pretty good defense against the Heat in round one. They were able to put the clamps on Wade pretty good (he didn't go for 40 each game). LeBron is better than Wade. The 11 other players on the Cavs are better than the other 11 players on the Heat. I think this series will be harder on the Cavs than round 1, but they will still win.

Cleveland in 6

2 Celtics vs. 3 Magic

Boston could barely get past the Bulls and the Magic are much better than the Bulls. I don't think that the Celtics have a chance in this one, but they could surprise me. I still do not have faith in the Celtics to win. Round one was the Finals for Boston.

Magic in 6

1 Lakers vs. 5 Rockets

The Rockets have some good weapons, but nobody has the team the Lakers do. The Lakers have 4 starters that could start for any other team in the league. The Rockets do play good defense and can slow down the Lakers, but the Lakers play good defense and the Rockets do not have a great offense. Plus, the Lakers can put both Pau or Bynum on Yao. The Lakers will be fine.

Lakers in 5

2 Nuggets vs. 7 Mavs

I do not see how the Nuggets are winning like this. I just do not think the Nuggets are that good, but they are cruising in the playoffs. Chauncey is awesome. Melo is the man. JR Smith just knows how to make big shots. Chris Anderson and Nene know their place and just help the team win. Kenyon Martin plays tough defense and well, that is about it. The Mavs just will not be able to keep up with Denver.

Nuggets in 6

09 NBA Playoffs

This is the post where I pick all the winners of the NBA playoffs and then you guys post comments about how stupid I am, but I don't see any of you putting yourself out there with any predictions. You can see last year's post here, but I only did an OK job with my picks. This year I hope to get everything right, including how many games. Let's start in the East:

Cleveland (1) vs. Detroit (8)

Everyone thinks that the Cavs will cruise in this series, and it is true that the Pistons are broken and need to be rebuilt for next year. The one good thing for the Pistons is that they know how to flip the switch and I think they can do that for a couple games. I am not going to pick the Pistons, but this will be more hard fought than anyone else is predicting now. The one thing the Cavs have that no one else does is LeBron and he will be the difference, like he is every game.

Cavs in 6

Atlanta (4) vs. Miami (5)

DeWayne Wade is the second best player in the NBA right now. He is a monster. The rest of his team sucks so hard they blow. If Beasley can get 20 and 10 for a couple games the Heat will win a couple games, if he does not show up in the playoffs the Heat will be dead quick. I know that Wade can get 1 or 2 wins all by himself, but the Hawks have a team that is long and athletic and they can switch defenders on Wade and have quick double-teams. The Heat's best chance is that the refs think this is the Finals against the Mavs and Wade gets a whistle every time he drives the lane.

Hawks in 6

Boston (2) vs. Chicago (7)

If KG is really out for the Celtics they are in trouble. Chicago is a new team with Brad Miller and John Salmons on the floor and the Bulls are not afraid of anyone in the East. Boston will be a tough out but they should be able to slide past the Bulls with Allen and Pierce. Pierce can still take a team on his back for a series, plus if things get real bad the Celtics would probably bring out KG for the emotional lift for one game. If KG is actually healthy and plays don't count this prediction against me.

Celtics in 7

Orlando (3) vs. Philly (6)

Philly is the team that everyone wants in the playoffs, they are just not that good. I don't know how they make it to the playoffs every year. Philly is a team that if they played in the West they would get between 10 and 20 wins a year (mostly against Eastern teams). Philly has a style of play (running and gunning) that works well in the regular season, but in the playoffs Orlando will take their time, slow down the game and should have an easy time with this series.

Magic in 5

Now for the West:

Los Angeles Lakers (1) vs. Utah (8)

The Jazz have no defense and give up over 120 points a game the past few games. The Jazz do not have a good enough offense to score over 120 points a game. This is bad. The Lakers have a great offense and have four players that are better than anyone on the Jazz right now (Bryant, Gasol, Odom, and Bynum). The Jazz have no answer for the Lakers, but they have a great home court and will be able to pull one out when the refs get behind the Jazz for a game in SLC.

Lakers in 5

Portland (4) vs. Houston (5)

The Blazers have a good young team but they have not been to the playoffs. Does that matter? I don't think it does in the first round. The Rockets are good, but not great. The best thing that happened to them all year was McGrady going out and hence losing someone that dominates the ball for 15 of the 24 seconds. Yao cannot lead a team by himself out of the first round of the playoffs. The Blazers have enough weapons that they can frustrate the Rockets defense. This will be a good series and very competitive. I just don't think the Rockets have what it takes to win this.

Blazers in 7

Denver (2) vs. New Orleans (7)

This is a great match up for New Orleans. Every team in the West wanted to get Denver in the first round. Denver winning is a mirage. The Nuggets beat the teams they should and lose to all the better teams in the league. New Orleans knows what it takes to win in the playoffs and their team is rounding into shape right in time. I am going out on a limb with this pick.

Hornets in 6

San Antonio (3) vs. Dallas (6)

This series comes down to the fact that Dallas has no one that can check Tony Parker and he will go off in every game this series goes. Dirk and Duncan will match each other with some good games and other not good games, but either way they fight to a draw and Parker makes the difference. The Spurs will not win the title this year (they have won the last 3 odd numbered years) but they will put up a fight in this series and the next.

Fantasy Sports Update

I am sure you all missed my weekly fantasy football update. I am sorry for not getting it posted sooner. This week has been pretty hectic. I have had many personal as well as business items to worry about and deal with this week. Not to say that this week has not been a good one, just busy. Now I am feeling a little sick and just want to stay in bed and hang out with the wife (which is exactly what we are doing as I type this).

I lost my fantasy match up this week. I was very sad. I should have won. I lost by 11 points and I had two guys that did not play (due to injury) and another guy that played for the first quarter and then was out the rest of the game. I also played Aaron Rodgers and he was horrible in a Green Bay loss. I could not believe it. I needed this win. I now reside in second place in my league with a record of 7-2.

I play the number three team this week whom I have already beaten once and plan on beating again. Hopefully all of my team members play well. A couple of my guys play some bad teams, so I am very encouraged.

Switching gears to the NBA and fantasy basketball: I won last week. I can barely believe it. I am also leading by a large margin so far this week with only tonight and tomorrow until the end of the match up. Maybe this year in the NBA won't be so bad, of course, I am playing some of the worst teams (if it is possible to have a worse team than mine) in the league right now. I will keep you updated.

Fantasy Football Wrapup

Another win!

I now sit at 6-1. My lone loss being the fluke Reggie Bush 2 punt retuns for touchdowns game. I was once again the highest scoring team in the league. The lone bad point is that I did not pass 300 this week (I scored 270.5).

Looking ahead to this week: I am playing one of the worst teams in the league and I am heavily favored to win. I was looking forward at my schedule and I am slated to play the number one team on the last week of the season. Hopefully, I will still have one loss and he will be undefeated - and I crush him. That would be the best payback I could think of.

I still have a couple weeks of no Tony Romo. I have been going with Jeff Garcia as my 2nd QB to get through my bye weeks, he has been doing OK, but not great. I might not use him this week, but Green Bay (Rodgers) plays against a good defense this week so I might not use Rodgers.

Basketball also started last night. I have the worst team in my league, so you might not hear much about my NBA team this year (I am sure Diana is happy about that).

Links for today

Here in California ("Kal-E-forn-ya" by the Governator) I had time to read some stories on the internet. Here is the best of what I read today.

The Celtics are in trouble. They would not have won without James Posey, and they lost him because they would not add another year to his deal. They will be kicking themselves next June when they lose in the first or second round. This deal really improves the Hornets. They have quite a team, I see big things for them next year (if they stay healthy).

You should never take money out of your 401(k). Never. I know times are bad for the economy, but just do not do it. The money you lose is just not worth it.

Gil Grissom is leaving CSI? I do not know if I can watch the show once he leaves. I will have to see how they do this. He really is the heart and soul of CSI. When he left last season for like 6 weeks the show got harder to watch. It is good to hear that Sara will be coming back. I do not know how they could bring back the Miniature Killer, but this is TV, so whatever. I do not like Lady Heather so she doesn't matter.

I wonder how long until there is a copycat of this? I am surprised this is the first time that something like this has happened and made a big splash. I am sure there are plenty of people that could go out to the internet and lock down servers and basically hold their company hostage. I think we will see more of this in the future. At least this guy is still getting paid. Is there really not a way to stop paying him until his trial? Nuts.

I love my BlackBerry (you already know this). Something I thought was weird happened a couple weeks ago and I finally had time today to look into it. We call Lesley "LD", but when you type LD on the blackberry it inserts the day. Weird and annoying. I found this story on tips to use your BlackBerry, and it explains the LD thing. I wish there was a way to get rid of it. It is so much easier to type LD then Lesley.

Pandora, the internet radio station is a killer app on the iphone. I got to try and get this on my BlackBerry. I wish that I had it. This is a reason to get the iPhone.

I like jokes, I have a couple that are pretty bad that I can do. Here are some more bad jokes. Really bad.

Celtics Win

I am happy. I know too many jerky Lakers fans to have LA win the championship. Most of these people are of course, bandwagon followers. I liked how soundly the Celtics won and there was no doubt the C's were better than the Lake-show. I wanted Ray Allen for MVP though. Pierce was not a bad choice though. I can see that, but he completely stunk in one of the games. Allen was very consistent throughout all the games.

I want to thank my wife for letting me watch all the games that I was available to watch. Hot action!

NBA Finals

Watching the NBA Finals right now. I got the best wife that will sit and watch "stupid" NBA (her words). The only annoying thing is that she turns on her laptop volume and goes to sites with sounds and music while I watch. I don't say anythin as I sit here, but she will read this and then know. Pretty passive-aggressive, huh?

Anyways. The Sunday night game I called the big comeback by the Lakers. The Celtics were up 24, I told Diana that we could not change the channel because the Lakers were going to make a game of it. And they did. There was only about 25 seconds that were really close. The Lakers waited too long to come back, but it was fun being right.

The Lakers are not playing that well (Kobe is), but Boston is completely horrible right now. If Boston does not wake up the Lakers will crush them tonight. If Boston can come back and win this the series is over.

NBA Lottery Last Night

All you people that love to mock my NBA knowledge will love this. NBA lottery results here. They better go with Beasley or they are stupid. He is a man. Rose will be good, but Beasley will be a star. This is fun as well, you can create the draft just how you want it!

Celtics win at home again. I do not think it is good when your team is so different depending upon where you play. I am pretty sure the hoops at 10 ft. in all the arenas.

Barkely is cool, but when you owe someone $400,000+ you have a problem. Hopefully he will really stop like he said he would.

8 AM Links

Want some cheap Air Jordan's? I have never shopped here, but if this is real, I cannot think of a better deal for some cool shoes. Sneaker On Sale.

Mother Nature strikes again. This is just horrible. When are we going to understand that these huge nautral disasters are being caused by the things we are doing to the Earth? Now I am not a tree hugger, but I do think that we need to think about how we can at least try to help the Earth recover from having so many people using up the natural resources of the planet.

The Hornets are looking pretty good. Can they keep it up when they move the series to San Antonio. Are the Hornets for real? I originally thought these guys were too inexperienced to win it all, but the way they are playing I could be persuaded to change that idea.

This is the beginning of the end for Yahoo. They should let Microsoft buy them and take them over. Yahoo is not doing anything that great and they continue to lose market share to Google.

This is an encouraging story. But how much time has been spent on this. Sometimes people need to look at the bigger picture and realize that maybe they should use their smarts for something like curing cancer or something a little more important.

Rebuttal

Anonymous said:

I think Avery is a good coach. Not great, but above average. Let's see...in the 2+ years he has been in Dallas he has...1) taken his club to the NBA Finals 2) Turned Dirk into a league MVP 3) #1 seed in the West 4) Turned a bunch of offensive hungery players to (at least consider) playing defense for portions of the game. 5) led his club to a franchise record 67 wins.He was not the one who mortgaged the teams future with the Kidd deal. Needless to say, they have been 100% terrible in the playoffs (for 3 years now) since their devastating blow-up loss in the NBA Finals. I still like Avery - Mabey Dallas will bring in D'Antoni from Phoeinx. Avery should go to Chicago - I think that would be a good fit. That opens the door for Jeff Hornecek to coach in Phoenix. PLUS...WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE NBA - - LOOK AT YOUR PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS...

Number one: "anonymous" why won't you use your name? Are you too afraid? Be tough and put your name down.

Number two: Let's talk about your thoughts on Avery Johnson, former Mavericks coach. The guy that cannot win in the playoffs. He is 3-12 in his last 15 games, which is not good, and he cannot relinquish control of the game. He forces his team to slow down even when they shouldn't. He won't let the team play, they have to have a play every time down. The team does not pass well, they got Jason Kidd and his assists went down. Avery has two plays; pass on the high post to Dirk and let him do something and; two pass to Dirk on the low post and let him do something. At least when they had Nash and Finley this team ran and created for each other. Avery has stopped all of that cold. Avery is called the little general, and he is, he does not allow his troops to do a thing without his approval, and in the NBA that does not work. People say that he had the Mavs playing defense, which is barely true, any small effort on D was more than the Mavs were playing under Nellie. There are many coaches that have taken a team to the Finals that is not a good coach, heck Doc Rivers could make it to the finals this year and what about Byron Scott as the Nets coach (he has learned a lot in his years with the Hornets plus he has Chris Paul)? As things go, Avery has been a good regular season coach (when most of the teams are barely showing any effort). When he hits the big stage, he can't make adjustments on the fly, he cannot motivate a team, he cannot work the refs or the other teams players like Phil Jackson or Jerry Sloan can. Basically, the Mavs are messed up because of their owner, Mark Cuban, but because he also has a coach that is not right for the team he has. The Mavs need to hire Rick Carlisle, a coach that is known for getting the best out of his players (except Artest, but I don't think anyone can coach that guy).

Number three: My picks aren't bad, they just aren't working out like I predicted, but if you look at what I wrote, my thoughts were right on.

43rd (And Could Be Final Post) Of The Month

Once I finish this post I probably won't post again until May, which is a little more than an hour away. One thing I have learned this month is I need to use the spell check. The blogging program provides for spell check, I just do not use it. Stupid on my part.

Today in the mail we got 27 Dresses and Revolver. We have not watched either movie yet, and probably won't stay up tonight to watch one, we can stay up late tomorrow. Plus, Jordan is laying on the floor (at least it is not me this time).

A couple links for today:

Like I said in an earlier post. Microsoft needs to dump Vista and just go back to XP. Sometimes you can go forward by going back. I guess.

Sometimes I wish I could send the people that send you those really cheesy emails to prison too. Don't those count as spam? Mom, I am just kidding, keep sending them. Not really, please stop. Just kidding, again. What am I saying she will never stop. Just make sure you send them to Diana and she will show me the really good ones. And Diana, you are welcome.

The Mavs fired Avery Johnson today. He was not the best coach, but with that team what can you expect. They were flawed from the beginning and Jason Kidd, their big pickup during the year, is nothing now, especially in the western conference. This team needs a complete overhaul. They should try to trade Josh Howard to Denver for Carmelo. Try to move Kidd for anything (he will be easier to move 2 years from now when his contract is expiring). Move Stackhouse for some rebounding/big man help. If they could pull of the Melo deal I think they will be OK for next year. If they try to stand pat, they might not make the playoffs. And if you do not think Denver would do that deal you are crazy. The Nuggets have to move someone, they have the 3rd highest payroll in the NBA, and cannot get out of the first round in the West.

I hate the BCS, but it will never change. The good old boys club just has it too good. There will never be a playoff even though it makes such sense to turn all the small bowl games into playoff games and then BCS games as the championships, how is that not a good idea? Back to the golden rule - whoever has the gold makes the rules.

Fed lowered the interest rate. Waiting to see what this does to car loan interest rates. We are going to get an All Wheel Drive car for this winter (not a Honda Pilot, we test drove one and Diana did not like it). Hopefully car loan rates go down a little more so we can get a sweet deal on whatever car we get. The one problem with the lower rate is inflation and the dollar, this is bad for oil and gas prices can only go up in the fed keeps lowering rates. They need to stop before things really get out of hand.

New clamshell blackberry coming out for all of you that want a blackberry, but love your clamshell phone. I still love my blackberry.

I am buying my old computer from my work. It still runs great and will be a good addition to the fold. I just need to get a wireless card for it and then it will be ready to go. I just bought a 19" widescreen flat panel monitor for it and I am excited to see it in action. We are going to let Diana have the desktop for her scrapbook room and still have the laptop when she wants to roam, and then go from there. This is like the one I got, but mine had a different brand name, Envision I think.

This is what I should be spending my tax rebate on. But, we are saving as much as we can. We are going to try and do Hawaii this fall/winter. Hopefully, we can just save my June and September bonuses and then we would have plenty for a trip in the fall. But by the time I get those bonus dollars we usually have them spent on something - like Jordan's surgery or house stuff! By the way, if you want the above TV but don't have a Costco card, let me know and I will help you get it, it has to stay at my house though.

A Couple Links Before Bed

Here is a meaningless game, but fun none the less:
http://www.addictinggames.com/fallingbush.html

Mario Kart for Wii was released over the weekend. I think we will have this pretty soon.

I was at the WalMart on 5600 West and near 3500 South and they had probably 12 Wii's in stock. Get one now before they run out!

What are the Australians doing with all those cell phones. There are more cell phones that people in Australia. Check out the article.

Almost time for me to buy a GPS for my vehicles. I remember a couple years ago on the day after Thanksgiving people were buying GPS like crazy for like $300, now you can find them for under $200 if you look around.

Another of my NBA picks going awry. Who would have known that the best team in the NBA could get this worked by the 8th seed and a team I don't believe should even be in the playoffs.

I love How I Met Your Mother, and the first time Britney was on wasn't a big deal, but this is getting ridiculous. Are they going to have her on every couple weeks? They really need to kill her off. She is definately not Ted's wife, so get her off the show. Hopefully it is the Sarah Chalke character from a couple weeks ago.

Download 1492 and When I Dream of Michelangelo by Counting Crows for all you that have not bought the album yet. See my review of Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings to get the lowdown on these two songs.

Can you believe that iTunes has already been around for 5 years?

Delta has raised airfare prices again. How high will these prices be when I go to Europe this fall. I had a discussion with our events manager and we are going to try and get everyone we know is going to buy a ticket now.

That should give you all something to do tomorrow at work.

Have a good day.

I will post an update on Jordan's condition once we know how things go.

Friday Night

Last night we went to a friends house and hung out til late. We had a good time, played catch phrase and such. For dinner we roasted some brats from Colosimos and chicken kabobos from Harmons. There was probably 12 couples, and they are all fun to hang with and joke around with. The kids went to one of other couples house and played with/watched their younger kids. They have a new baby named Squishy and she has the best cry face, and she does cry all the time. Around 10 or so the Squishy's dad went to go get her and she hung with us adults for a while. I even got to hold her until she was crying uncontrollably, but she does that to everyone.

Today we ran a couple errands and got stuff for Chloe's campaign to be 6th grade representative for next year. We are making 4 large posters and she can have 10 small flyers to hang up. Chloe's campaign manager made the small ones, so we just have big ones to do.

We also got a picture/frame/saying thing to go in our front room. We just have to get our pictures printed out and inserted into our frames and the front room will be done. We have to get all that done by next Saturday - for the Cinco de Mayo party. We also got Diana's magnet board she has been wanting. We went to Robert's - and used the 50% off one item coupons. So we got some pretty good deals. I have to paint the magnet board and today I got the primer on it and one coat of paint, but I need to sand it a little now and then put some more coats of paint on it.

Yard work will have to wait until later this week or next week.

Jim Gaffigan is on Comedy Central right now. This dude is hilarous. We have his special Tivo'd permanantly on our TIVO and watch it every couple months. Here is a couple Gaffigan goodies - and of course I am leading with Hot Pockets, probably the best 6 minutes you can spend in front of a computer.

The NBA playoffs are still going on and a bunch of my predictions are way off. Of course, people point those out to me, but don't say how many I am doing just good on. Let's be fair. These are just predictions.

Hot Pockets.

NBA Playoffs

Yes, I took 2nd in my fantasy NBA league. But that won't stop me from posting my predictions for the NBA playoffs. I will start with the Leastern Conference and then do the Bestern Conference. That is the East and then the West for you that don't actually pay attention to the league.

Cleveland vs. Washington
The best young player (LBJ23) in the league against the best unknown player in the league (Caron Butler). This series will be hardfought. But the Cavs will win. I like the Wiz, for some reason I just do. I liked them when they were the Bullets and had CWebb and Juwan Howard. That was a long time ago. But I just can't like the Jazz. Not this Jazz that we have now. The only player with any heart is D. Will. But we can talk more about the Jazz later.
Cavs in 6

Toronto vs. Orlando
If you did not pay attention to the NBA you would think Orlando would smash Toronto in a series, but the Raptors have had the Magics number all year. The playoffs will be no different. D. Howard is not as dominate as he should be. Rashard Lewis is a 118 million dollar bust and Turkoglu is awesome - o why did I trade him from my fantasy team for Jermaine Oneal? Oh, yeah, I was trying to hit a home run, but instead got a pitch to my head.
Raptors in 6

Philly vs. Detriot
This series is a walkover. The sixers do not even deserve to be in the playoffs, but in the East me and four friends could fight for the 8th seed. These dudes suck. The NBA, where teams that could barely beat a college team make the playoffs happens. You do realize that the Piston have been good (for the East) fir like 5 or 6 straight years now, and other than the fluke against LA only have one championship to show for it. If they do not win this year, they are done.
Pistons in 5

Atlanta vs. Boston
This Boston team is better than people think. The bench really came through for them this year. The past month the big 3 have basically been just staying in game shape. 66 wins and a great record against the West. The C's are for real. And should cream anyone in the East. Atlanta, good job. After 6 months of playing, you have the right to get creamed in the first round.

LA Lakers vs. Denver
These should be some high scoring fun games to watch. It seems Denver has the pieces to match the Lakers every way. But the Nuggest play no D, and Kobe can lock down when he needs to. This is the year I predict that Pau Gasol finally gets a playoff win. The Lakers just need to play a consistent game and they will win this series. Do not get out of control and try to outscore the Nuggets. I do like Carmelo (on the floor, as a human, he is horrible), he really earns every point he gets, not a lot of layups or easy baskets for him.

Utah vs. Houston
Rematch from last year, when Houston had Yao and barely lost. This year the Jazz should destroy these Rockets. Only McGrady can score and he can be neutralized or the Jazz will just let him score 40 and stop everyone else. The Jazz play no defense, but no one on the Rockets have any offense. Boozer...you suck. Show some heart and play some D.

Phoenix vs. San Antonio
This series is why the Suns made the Shaq trade, only in the West could it happen in the first round. The Suns have destroyed the Spurs twice since the trade and it will be no difference in the playoffs. Other than some cheap, crap playing from the Spurs once they know they have lost, this series will not be that hard for the Suns.

Dallas vs. New Orleans
The Hornets have been a surprise to most people (not me). I think they are good, but they will not win this series. The Mavs know what they need to do to win in the playoffs, and will be able to do it against this Hornets team. The Hornets need another year and a better bench.

Fantasy NBA

Today is the last day of the NBA season and the last day for me to come back for the championship. Don't let anyone know but I will not be able to come back, I am done. Injuries took me out. And I am not happy about it. Monkey is beating me and he never beats me. I am angry, but there is nothing I can do about it from here. I am down 9-2. Hopefully I at least take the lead in a couple more categories.

It has been a great NBA season and I can't wait for the playoffs, well at least the Western conference playoffs. When is the NBA going to get with it and qualify the top 16 teams? This whole top 8 from each conference is a joke. And I don't care about history or rivalries. Once the NBA makes this decision and just does it new rivalries will be created, and the better teams will make it to the playoffs and teams like the Hawks, sixers, raptors, and wiz wouldn't be there as road kill. It is a waste for the good teams of the west that beat each other up have to end up with a well rested and ready eastern conference team. I think we all know that the Cavs, Celtics, and Pistons are the only teams in the east that even have a chance. And the cavs will be destroyed if they make the finals. The celtics and pistons only have a change because they will not have to face three quality teams during the next three months. Which is the biggest problem with the NBA. The NBA season is 5 months and 82 games. The playoffs are 3 months and 20 games. What a waste of time and players. All to even up the TV nights and make sure there are games on every night for a week (which I like), but the games get too spread out.

Stern - I am calling on you to fix this. I know we bonded during our 35 second hello conversation in Barcelona. So Dave, fix this. I know you can do it. And while you are at it, don't let the Sonics move to Oklahoma. Be a man and make these billionaires live with their choices, dont let them pick up a franchise that has been in Seattle for 40 years and just up and move them.

I love sports but hate the business side of it.

Fantasy NBA

Well, I made it to the championship in my fantasy nba league. I had to drop/add all last week to beat the guy I was against. Don't know what that is do you? Well, I used to call it cheating, but I won my NBA league last year doing it, and I made it a major part of the league this year (whomever wins one year is the commish the following year). I set a moves limit of 30 and then only used 11 of those during the season. That left 19 moves for the playoffs. I was the number 2 seed and got a first round bye. I would let you know who was on my team, but injuries ravaged my team so I am down to a load of losers. I started with Wade [out with injury], Marion [out with injury], D. Howard, C. Paul, C. Butler [out most of season with injury], Kaman [out wih injury] and more. I had a great team until guys started falling like flies. It was disappointing. Back to the point of what is drop/add? I would drop players that were not playing for guys that were playing, in an attempt to just pick up stats. I went through 15 of my remaining moves in one week. I barely squeaked by, and now I have only 3 moves for this week. Check that, 2 moves, I just used one. We will see what happens for my team, but at least baseball is starting. After week one I am in first place by a game, but my starting pitcher (Gorzellany on the Pirates)today is getting shelled.
