Jordan had an eye appointment with Dr. Sargent today. It is all good news. Jordan wears glasses because one his eyes is dominant, the other is weak and takes longer to dilate and focus. There are a couple ways to help this. 1) Wearing glasses (which Jordan is doing); 2) Eye exercises (Jordan is not doing these); 3) Patching (Jordan is not doing this, and we hope he will not have to). Patching consists of Jordan actually wearing a patch over his dominant eye for a certain amount of time per day. This allows the non-dominant eye time as the only eye and forces the eye to strengthen itself.
Jordan used to be 20/-27000 and is now 20/-200, which is great! We hope the eye can continue to strengthen and (hopefully) one day the glasses won't be necessary. That is best-case scenario, of course, but we can hope. Today was a quick appointment, the doctor said that he is really improving and wants to delay the eye exercise/patching decision to April. He also said that if he continues to improve the patching probably won't be necessary.
Jordan has enough things to deal with, we don't want to have to deal with him going to school as a pirate (eye patch). We would have to get him a parrot and a wooden leg. That would be awesome!
